New Mexico
Las Cruces : Bar Canyon - Soledad Canyon
Hello everybody! My name is Rachel and welcome to my blog about the great outdoors! My family and I have always been outdoor type people and now we want you to enjoy the great outdoors too. 'In Your Backyard' will feature a trail where ever we go. The trail is usually free, but gas isn't, so I can't say I'll have a blog every week for this. However, while this blog will have some pictures I want you to go and experience it for yourself. Go into your backyard and explore what you have. You might be surprised.
As our sub-heading states, we went to Soledad Canyon for our first hike of the year. Since I'm from the southwest our hikes usually have to run from Mid-July until about Mid-March, then it just gets too hot.
For today our weather was perfect. We went in the morning and there were a lot of clouds.
Yep, this is Las Cruces, NM.
Going in the morning helped with the heat, but with all the clouds, it wasn't a big problem. We weren't even next to the mountains. While we aren't a forest, there is still a natural beauty.
This hike, basically the trails we took, plus the extra to my little surprise at the end ended up being about 5 miles to get there and back. Not too bad with how out of shape my sister and I are, heh.
This trail also has some history to it as well. Like an old ranch.
Hi, it's me, Rachel!
The old windmill.
Thats a pretty area.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'll get some pretty pictures for my next hike.
